so I am chosing this board.... Megyn has been tapped to cover the MJ Memorial for Fox Broadcast...which means Shep is being bumped back to FNC (he always hosts for Fox broadcast for big events like the State of the Union or any big presidential address) And Bill is no where to be found for any of the coverage (as of yet at least)...(maybe he is on vacation this week?....) VERY DISAPPOINTED here....  Thanks for letting me vent |

Maybe, Bill Hemmer figures home base (the station) is a safe place to be or he's at home away from the madness!  Go ahead and vent your heart out if it makes you feel better!

Oh neither Megyn nor Shep are actually going to LA to cover the memorial..They are staying put in NYC...BUT...they are the ones anchoring the coverage for Fox broadcast and FNC respectively....
This doesnt bode well for Bill professionally speaking...and it speaks volumes as to who FNC is putting the spotlight on when it comes to their talent...
And its not Bill...
Shep anchoring doesnt surprise me...
Megyn does....

Do you suppose that Bill, maybe feels like he's not wanted at Fox and that's why he takes "long" weekends off? If that's the case maybe Bill might be moving on?

IMO...Bill taking long weekends in the summer is not a new behavior....Infact many of the talent in the different outlets do that very thing...(I bet long weekends at his Sag Harbor are very relaxing)
I do think though that his growth and value at FNC is stalling out or at least plateauing ...And in the long term that doesnt help him professionally....gives him less negociating power when his contract is up (which, if he re-upped last year '08 ) means he is most likely signed with FNC to '11
I'm just bummed for him....They arent utilizing him the way he can be....

I agree... totally!! They always show more of Megyn.... I guess they (FNC) want Bill just to be eyecandy for the ladies (not that I don't mind  )....not to mention the "ratings", even so I think he should get more experience with doing hard news....like Richard Engel does at MsNBC! If Fox doesn't do that, then they're wasting his talents....that's bad, because then the he leaves or is let go for falling ratings!  I really hope it doesn't happen!

What do you think Carmen?...What about you Laydee? Sorry, I didn't get back sooner. Regarding Bill being ignored, I think he chooses what assignments he wants to take on. I think he likes to take advantage of his vacations cause he needs them. This coverage about the Michael Jackson thing is just too much coverage. Bill's the kind of guy that wants to get onto news that people can use and has substance. I don't think Fox has any lesser value in him than any other anchor. |

Laydee.....I am sorry to hear how stressful things are for you...Hard to live in a place where you feel out of place and not free to be who you are....
AFA Bill....Considering how all of the major anchors covered the memorial service and Bill was available to cover it (he is on vacation this coming week not last week as it turned out ) I hope he wasnt so foolish to be engaging in any CLM attitudes...It's clear he already is losing leverage at FNC....
But he does have a job at least...

"CLM attitude" or "CLM behaviour"....CLM means "Career Limiting Move"
It's clear that FNC has already begun to marginalize and under utilize Bill for some time.....He is pretty much just a news reader these days unfortunately....I just hope that he doesnt end up exhibiting either attitudes or behaviors behind the scene that add to that is all...
I was thinking about it yesterday...He most likely has 2 more years to go on his present contract...Considering the MASSIVE contracts that OReilly, Beck and Shepard have FNC is going to be looking to trim others who make decent but not massive amounts of $$...that would include Bill and Greta...One thing that both Bill and Greta have going for them is that their rating #s are good....But they arent irreplacable...and part of the reason Bill's are good is because of Megyn....(and FNC has put the spot light on her and she is now the raising star at Fox, not Bill; they are letting Bill's star fade and that is obvious)
Time will shake it all out...and see who is left standing....
